We are aware, that many of the foreign people visiting us have been in other mountain
areas like Nepal. Many times they are thinking of "Upgrading" their experience
by comming to Pakistan with his not so developed touristic "industry". Exposing
themself to higher demands. For usually lower costs than in Nepal, when working with the
right people.
We have learned, that many of this foreign people have studied books or internet-websites
with informations about our Northern Areas. And specially about the Diamer District, with
the famous mountain "Nanga Parbat" or "Diamir" ( local Shina-language
).
By looking in those books or websites, often we found surprising informations, that were
not known even to us - although we were the topic of that literature and explanations.
More funny, many times it seemed to us, that some autors liked to use older books of
others to get inspiration and informations. Many of that old books seems to be very very
old...
So sometimes we are sadly amused, to learn, that the people of Northern area, and
specially the people of our Nanga Parbat area, are described as dangerous, unreliable
persons, with a foul reputation: For theft, murder and general surliness. One tells you,
that the best would be to consult the police in Chilas before setting out for your visit
to the Nanga Parbat region.
We are very shy and cool to comment on
this, and we are sad to learn, that out of an lack of understanding, strange situations
are arising and misinterpreted - possibly causing some fear in your mind.
So we are happy, that by the Internet, there is the chance of bringing our explanations,
voice, thoughts and own informations to the public media and interest. Specially in those
days after 9/11, that brought down nearly everything, specially foreign visits to our
area, next to Afghanistan.
Informations and explanations, directly from the people of the Nanga Parbat area in the
Internet, crosschecked by foreign friends - that's it, what we would like to put in this
private, none commercial Internet Site. With the help of foreign friends.
Our goal is to attract you in comming to the Nanga Parbat area. Without fear or stress in
your mind, that this will become difficult, costly or dangerous. Surely, that will become
more a demand for mental shape than the physical shape, which is necessary in Nepals up
and down, river and valley crossings. Pakistan offers challenges you might search to
yearn.
We know, that your most precious time of the year, your holiday-time, should not be wasted
with solving problems that can be easily avoided.
You better do not invest costly time and money, just to trek the common trails. Being part
of an wandering-hotel, what will keep you quite sure separated from the plain local people
and their microcosmos.
Surely, organized groups can make it easy for you to get around. But trekking in high
altitude and remote areas expose you to many demands for your ability, to adjust to
strange situations. Being part of an big group and their way of acting, very quickly you
can become a limitation to the group and their plans. That will put stress on you and can
seriously develop to real problems, that you never had before.
If you come alone or as a small group, you can avoid all this. You choose, what you would
like to see and undertake. In your pace and style. In your budget - getting real contact
with our people, getting unfiltered impressions by your own.
We can assist you in many ways, because we are familiar with two societies: West and East.
As Pakistanis, working with mountaineering Expeditions, we have visited many times our
numerous friends in Europe, and lived there for weeks and months with them. They, on the
other hand, have spent a lot of time here with us in Pakistan. So we are fully aware of
the contrast in thinking, acting and living. If you need or like assistance, we can help
you.
You should not come here suspecting, what you will find. Please use our foreign friends as
a reference, and ask them questions, that you were shy to ask us directly.
It would be nice, to come in contact with you. Please enjoy looking around in this
Web-Site, and if you like, give us your valueable feedback.
